My Unit Trust Investment as of 24th April 2020

So what happened last week ending 24th April 2020?

Early of the week, a video of the Health Minister doing video conferencing with a political party president and he mentioned that he was talking to 500 countries. Naturally, everybody was, myself included, appalled by that information. There was a lot of memes created. It was later found out that he was actually doing video conferencing with 500+ participants. An honest mistake, but because he was a Minister, it blew up and people were making fun of him.

Early of the week also saw hardware shop start to open, on alternate days. I see people lining up to buy supplies. With a lot of time in hand, think it’s best to pursue long-overdue DIY project or repair works.

Announcement of the start of Ramadan 1441 AH

Ramadan. It started on 24th April 2020, during MCO, which is the first for me. Naturally, everybody was playing the guessing game on what colour of Baju Melayu The Royal Seal Keeper will be wearing?

And the answer is?

The Royal Seal Keeper announcing the start of Ramadan for 2020 (1441 AH)

Is it blue? Some people seeing green, depending on which media you’re using to watch this announcement.

Somebody manage to come up with colour palette.

Asking directly 2020 colour

In the end, someone asked the question directly to the source. It’s Turquoise Blue.

There’s no physical Ramadan Bazaar, everything is done over the internet. Foods were posted and ordered on social media and delivered by themselves, using a runner service, or some buyer prefers self-collection. There’s a restriction though, you cannot order inter-area or district. This is, I think, the new norm of doing business. You don’t need to have an outlet to do your business, you can do it from home. Those who still rely on the old way of doing business will wither away, in my humble opinion.

What’s in the sky?

There was annual Lyrid Meteo Shower last week but I don’t have the motivation to wake up early in the morning. Would be great if I could go somewhere where there’s less light pollution. The last time I saw a meteor shower was in 1999. For now, I’m watching this virtually on my tablet.

What’s in the stock market?

Closer to the stock market, crude oil price went down. Does this have and impact on my Unit Trust investment? It sure did, but nothing compared to the impact of CoVid-19. The Edge Markets did a cover story on how the oil price impacted our national oil company here.
