6th Sabah International Folklore Festival

I think the last time I attended such event was way back when blogging is still something alien to me, heck I don’t even have a proper camera back then. It was 2002 I think, yes it was a very long time ago.  And yes, this is what I deemed as a bangas post. Anyway, the 6^th Sabah International Folklore Festival or #SIFF on Twitter; not to be mistaken as Seattle International Film Festival which was on the same night, was held from 17^th till 26^th July 2011, and I went for the 25^th event.

I arrived at Sabah Cultural Centre at about 7:30pm after a quick stop for Sundae cone and Apple pie, Sundae cone for my girlfriend and Apple pie for yours truly. I was hopping to arrive there at 7:00pm because I don’t want to park far. Luckily there was ample parking when we arrived. Went to get the RM30 tickets then heading off to the stalls that I first noticed earlier. The following photos are from that night event. I didn’t go for the rest though.

There are also few other stalls there, selling foods and handicraft, naturally.

I am tempted to put Batman’s logo on the searchlight that night. Or maybe mine, then there would be another story of my misadventure.

For the first time ever SIFF Mascot. I don’t know about you but if I were a kid, this would be a nightmare. Seriously.

If you getting the RM30 ticket, you’ll be getting these seats from above.

And if you get the RM50 ones, you’ll be getting these seats. Oh hi Chegu Carol, hi Alvin. Yes, they have the best seats that night.

While waiting for the show to start, I attempt the impossible, supposedly trying the famous “taking photo from above angle so you would look super cute” pose. Maybe I should have use peace sign over one of my eyes or over my lips. Somebody need to blog why them Generation Z likes to take this angle, seriously. Any takers?

As like previous years, these are the guys; one row at the back, which are the tech support for SIFF marking system. Oh hi there Josie & Kim.

These are dancers from Johor, representing Malaysia. We are not competing that night because we can easily win this. That’s what the MC said, not me.

The flag thrower from Belgium. It was spectacular.

The dancer from Singapore, almost the same as Johor’s traditional dance, because they are neighbour after all.

The dancer from Taiwan was mesmerizing. I’m sure they’ll be the winner this year. I was told they won last year.

Dancers or should I say drummers from South Korea.

From India, makes you want to go running around like the ones in Hindi or Tamil movies, except for the part that you could jump backward.

You would be surprise that these dancers are from Thailand, but the music they used resemble our Ikan Kekek.

The havoc group from Namibia.

Chucky’s cousins came over just to prove to everyone that they could wrestle. It’s a one man show from Turkey. Underneath those dolls is just one man. Interesting.

Dancing on a moving plank? Not my cup of tea. But these dancers from Philippines can dance even when they are moved all around.

I saw an apparition.

Then it was gone.

Hahaha, the apparition is actually dancers from Kazakhstan.

Should have taken the RM50 seats. Next year, probably.
