Stompin’ Sabah 2010 at Jesselton Point

I went there, had fun listening, at times singing along and dancing to a few songs and get wet at the same time. I arrived there at about 6:30 pm to get my complimentary ticket.

It was still raining when I reached Jesselton Point

Thank you Nuffnang & Xpax for these tickets.

Safety first!

Everybody gets their own tags before entering the FUN ZONE!

For the first 3 hours of stomping, local Sabahan seizes the stage, and they sure are a lot of them performing. I was told that another U.O.X. audition was done the day before, so there were more than three bands performing that night. All of them; I would say and agree, are very talented. Didn’t manage to get all of them because I was outside eating (and I didn’t know they serve free light din-din inside). And the only performer’s name I remembered is Rachel (if this is the correct spelling). I know what you going to say. Guys Geeks only remembers girls’ names. Not my fault entirely! My “entourage” was late and I keep on exiting the place hoping to get a body search to give them my complimentary pass! It pays to have a blogger friend like me :p

So I also managed to take a video snippet of all of them Sabahan using my *ehem* new Nikon Coolpix P7000 (it has HD video recording) and edited it using iMovie on my *ehem* MacBook Pro, which gets me thinking of my next project later. But on with the video.

By the way, Jin from Hitz.fm was the emcee for Stompin’ Sabah 2010 and he really knows how to make the crowd get moving.

I hope you guys like that. At about 9 pm is the time where all hell breaks loose, starting with DJ Tony, Shawn Lee and Toi AF6. They were brilliant. Toi AF6 performing Wonder Girls’ song Nobody with his Angklung, Shawn Lee with his amazing beat-boxing; I think he’s a transformer because he really sounded like a real sound effect box, MC Vibe collaborating with Shawn Lee and DJ Tony with his song mixing.

What come next really made the crowd jump around. As they said it, “when we play there’s a rule, nobody sits, nobody sleeps”, and true enough everybody was jumping around to the beat of their songs and some sing-along (yours truly included); minus those who were there to watch their Idol Man Kidal, Wicked Aura Batucada was simply AWESOME! I could still feel their aura while editing their photos and videos. I should have followed my friend going backstage to meet them and buy their album! These are some of the photos and video snippets of them performing.

Unfortunately, the band from the Philippines, KUHALIG couldn’t make it to the show because of a technical problem. Next up were Ella and The Band, performing her hit single. I’ve never seen her perform live so this was pretty exciting to me.

Ella sang for one song before taking a break. This is where Solo Guitarist came in. Dicken does know licking some riffs, like having the best meal of his life. OK, he’s 16 and I can’t say he’s making love with his guitar. That’s very wrong mind you. But the other two Solo Guitarist; Man Kidal & Joe Wings (both are lefty) was really licking their wife’s guitar. Seriously. I wish I could lick a few riffs on my own. But looking at them performing is as pleasurable as pretending to be one while showering. Oh, don’t tell me you guys never did that, pretending to be on stage, on leg on top of the toilet seat, holding the toilet plunger pretending it’s a Gibson Les Paul… Umm… Just watch the photos and video aite.

After that Ella came back to the stage again performing with guest guitarist, Joe Wings. Two of Malaysia’s rock legends on stage. I compiled all of Ella’s video snippets into one.

Stompin’s Sabah 2010 bid farewell to all who came with Sayang Kinabalu; and I could see some doing Sumazau on stage. It sure is a blast and really hoped the organizer would come back next year.

Until next year; hopefully.

    • that mother i’m guessing a die hard fan of Ella. I noticed she record only when Ella is on stage.
